This semester, I took a printmaking class! This picture shows a copper
plate covered in a material called hard ground. To make a print,
or image, I etched into the plate to create trees & stars.
The plate is covered in ink and pressed onto
paper to create a print. Sweet right?!

A golf course is a magical place.
What things pop into your head when you think of a golf course? Golf clubs and golf carts and golf balls and golf clothes and... golf? I think of stars.
My sister and I lived with my mom and my great aunt Leona. In the sticky evenings of summer, we would venture out of our home and into the backyard. A backyard unlike any other- it was filled with pine trees and golfers, sand bars and lost golf balls, magic and memories. Our backyard golf course was our playground. Up the trail we would trekk on the freshly mown grass. We would hike across the course to the very last hole and stop for some water. Then we travelled back where we came in search of our hidden secret.
After walking for lightyears the sun began to set, and we found our place: a circle of pine trees that most would overlook, not knowing the magic held within. But that thicket held our own little universe. A small little clearing with a blanket of grass and dandelion pillows. We lay down to survey the wonders above. Greeted by the big dipper and bright twinkling lights and indigo blue and cool summer nights. Magic dusted the sky.
In the distance, far, far away, a lone golfer squares their shoulders. They start to swing. A carefully placed golf ball waits on the tee, and the metal club connects with the ball. It goes flying, and passes above our enclosed little galaxy. All we see is a shooting star.
You see there was magic in the people around me and each star that glittered and sparkled above.
