If not now, then when?

Why do we put things off? What stops us from seizing an opportunity? Sitting around contemplating my own inaction and failure to make a change makes me wonder. (And wisdom start in wonder, right?)

I can't tell you how many times I've shrugged my shoulders and said to myself, "Eh, I'll do that later." I mean in high school I was voted biggest procrastinator for my grade. I really started to think about why I procrastinate. Then I pushed myself further and wondered why people put off doing the things they really want to accomplish. Why do people delay what their passionate about?

The answer, although there are probably many, is that if you're not passionate about what you're doing, you probably won't want to do it. That could be why I'm writing this post instead of doing my laundry. It sounds corny, but I am passionate about this blog. I have put considerable effort, thought, kindness, and care into each post. However, just because you're doing something you love doesn't mean it's not still scary. Each time I post one of these things it makes me scared and nervous and excited all at once. If you get that uncomfortable feeling in the pit of your stomach, it probably means that you are being challenged. You are learning and growing as a person. Just think of them as butterflies ;)

If you don’t fail, then you’ll never learn.

If you don’t go after it, then you will never have it.

If you don’t make a change, then nothing will ever change.

If you don’t ask the question, then the answer will always be no.

If you don’t take the next step, then you’ll always be in the same place.

If not now, then when?

You won’t know until you try!

Once you try, then you'll know.

Let's begin to change the narrative of our lives. If you begin do what you want to do, I bet you’ll finally know what you are capable of and realize what you are passionate about.

Do the things that scare you.

Start trying new things.

Take a chance.

Don’t say if.

Say when.

Create.

Do.
