The Greatest Gift

“For God so loved the world...”

On Christmas morning I woke up feeling tired after a long night spent at my grandparent’s house. (Tired in the best way.) An exhaustion that that only comes from hours of eating and opening presents and bickering and making memories.

This holiday season I have been surrounded by the people and things I love most. Family and friends, treats and traditions, jokes and joy-filled laughter.  I love that for me this time is filled with recliners, family pets, taco dip, visits from Santa, puppy chow, the movie Family Vacation, and breakfast pizza on Christmas morning. There’s also nothing quite like the excitement that comes right before opening up gifts from your loved ones.

One of the greatest gifts I received this year, was spending time with family and making memories. I didn’t have an extravagant holiday or get a bunch of gifts or even go on a trip, but the people I love most came together to share in each others company. Family is made stronger sometimes because of big things, but mostly because of the little things we do for one another and in fleeting moments of care and kindness. It is in those small moments of joy that the true spirit of Christmas lives. This may be the best present of all, but what is the most important gift of all you may ask?

”...that He gave His only son.”
